WELCOME TO THE READY ROOM
The space where military aviators prepare for & debrief combat missions. Characterized by coffee & camaraderie.
OUR MISSION
The Ready Room Project provides out-of-reach opportunities to military kids.
We want to see them thrive.
1.2% of American kids bear 100% of the childhood burden of military service.
This small group of kids make extraordinary sacrifices that benefit all of us (source).
Military kids and their families face stresses that can critically impact their sense of belonging, mental health, friendships, academics, athletic prospects, and civilian parents’ careers.
Many of them experience economic hardship as a result of a family member's service. They often live far from the support of extended family, endure long separations from their service member, and encounter frequent moves throughout their childhood.
We’re partnering with folks like you who want to help ease their burden.
The Ready Room Project is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to serving military kids.
We envision a range of projects big and small, rolled out over time, that:
Get resources directly into the hands of military kids.
Promote military family members’ mental and physical health.
Extend to active duty families across services (Navy, Marine Corps, Army, and Air Force).
Target our most vulnerable service-connected kids.
Our projects are in the works.
We started with a back-to-school project for kids living on board Naval Air Station Lemoore, a remote base in Central California.
We’re coordinating with local spouses, Chaplains, and on-base school officials to assess the needs and make sure your donations matter.
We’re funding tuition and travel scholarships for active duty military kids to attend Summer STEM camp in Annapolis.
Our goal is to get simple but impactful resources directly into the hands of kids who will benefit from them.
We need your help! Please consider becoming a donor.
We need your help to get out-of-reach opportunities in the lives of military kids.

Where is your ready room?
You don't have to be a military aviator to have a ready room. It's your kitchen table, your front porch, your local coffee shop.
It's the space where you do life with friends who are like family, where decisions are considered and made, and from which laughter emanates.
The Ready Room Project started in our ready room.
We had our first conversation about this back in 2014 around a table with friends. As military families, we were keenly aware that some opportunities are out of reach for lots of service-connected kids.
We talked about organizing our efforts and doing some fundraising. We talked about forming a non-profit. We talked about the name “The Ready Room Project.”
Back then, we didn’t have the bandwidth to put this together. We were neck-deep in active duty military life: deployments, detachments, moves.
But we never forgot about The Ready Room Project. In 2022, we found room to make it happen.
